Little Panthers Preschool

Overview

The Strath Haven Preschool Laboratory offers a unique, hands-on learning experience for high school students enrolled in the Childhood Program. In this enriching environment, high school students deepen their understanding of young children's growth and development while creating a joyful, supportive classroom experience for preschoolers ages 3 to 5.

Our preschool is led by teams of high school students—from sophomores to seniors—who work collaboratively to design and implement developmentally appropriate activities. Under the guidance of the classroom instructor and teacher’s aides, students observe children, learn to manage behavior, identify developmental milestones, and strengthen cooperation and leadership skills through daily teamwork.

Applications for the 2026–2027 school year will open on December 8, 2025. All applications will be due by February 16, 2026. The program is open to children ages 3 to 5 who reside in the Wallingford–Swarthmore School District. High school students work with the preschoolers three days a week, and the program typically runs for 28 weeks from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The application can be accessed directly here using this [Google Form Link]. Families may contact the director of the Little Panthers Program at jzanoni@wssd.org with any questions.
